Learning Goals and Assessments

Learning Goal(s):

1. Increase students’ understanding of course concepts.
   
2. Provide students with an opportunity to analyze a fictional world using the sociological perspective.
3. Improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Goal Assessment(s):

1. Students produce and present 10 to 15-minute PowerPoint presentations in which they define sociological concepts, analyze the social world depicted in The Hunger Games, connect the fictional world of the film to the “real” world, and use ASA Style.
2. The instructor leads a class discussion recapping the main themes in students’ presentations and posing further questions to the class.
3. Students assess their learning and reflect on their experiences in a reflection assignment.
