Abstract

The music and songs of immigrants often captures or reflects elements of their lives. Several aspects of working class Texas-Mexican life are illuminated by an old musical style called "conjunto," as described in Manuel H. Pena's The Texas-Mexican Conjunto: A History of a Working-Class Music (University of Texas Press, 1985).
