By using Simon and Gagnon’s sexual scripting theory, students learn how to apply abstract theoretical concepts to concrete examples that resonate with the current Western sexual mores. - Students will be able to apply Simon and Gagnon’s sexual scripting theory to a variety of socio-sexual contexts.
Goal Assessment(s):
- Using the three levels of sexual scripting theory, students will individually match normative scripts by their correct type (e.g. correctly sort all the cultural scenarios).
- Using the three levels of sexual scripting theory, students will classify normative constructions of sexuality in contemporary Western contexts (e.g. link normative understandings of hookup culture to hookup behaviors, and then to hookup desires).
