Abstract
This portfolio project asks students to choose a social institution and analyze how gender is shaped through that institution. Using visual material such as photos or ads, students create a scrap-book style portfolio that blends theories from class with visual analysis to show how gender is social reproduced. Portfolios are 50-60 pages long.Download this resource to see full details. Download this resource to see full details.

Usage Notes
I have used this portfolio assignment as a final project in a gender class (and a version in a Women's Studies class as well). I pair this assignment with Lauren Greenfield's book, Girl Culture, which is a visual analysis of the role of media in the construction of femininity. Many students are quite successful and creative with their portfolios....Download this resource to see full details. Download this resource to see full details.
