Learning Goals and Assessments

Learning Goal(s):

  1. Students will be able to examine and reflect on how structure constrains and enables their agency, in terms of how they were raised, the groups they are a part of, and the values and beliefs that guide their everyday lives.
  2. Students will be able to correctly apply examples from their lives to key sociological concepts from across the course.

Goal Assessment(s):

  1. Evaluation of students’ concluding section in their papers, regarding the extent to which they can discuss how their life choices have been constrained and enabled by their chosen agents of socialization.
  2. Using the rubric to grade the paper, I ensure students include each concept with a correct example. I evaluate the extent to which they gave a detailed description of this example which demonstrates their clear understanding of the concept.
