Learning Goals and Assessments

Learning Goal(s):

  1. Apply qualitative research strategies
  2. Analyze primary data sociologically demonstrating a capacity to investigate diversity
  3. Demonstrate collaboration skills

Goal Assessment(s):

  1. Students learn about research ethics and practice interview question writing and coding in collaborative class activities, complete three 15-minute interviews and transcribe them individually, and code the data collaboratively.
  2. Students create an analysis plan identifying course concepts that help interpret interview data and show they understand family diversity; and write an essay reflecting on key learnings, benefits, and experiences.
  3. Students use Microsoft Teams to collaborate on the group exercises and complete a peer review at the end of the semester.
