This means that teaching and learning occurs in a way that integrates classroom instruction with meaningful community service, while simultaneously providing opportunities for personal and academic reflection on your experiences inside and outside of the classroom. The focus of this course is on the class system and class inequality that exists in The United States. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and service experiences, students are exposed to traditional and contemporary sociological theories of social stratification, dimensions of social class, and social mobility. Throughout the semester students are encouraged to be active in their learning goals and are provided with opportunities to critically reflect upon and share their experiences and knowledge with each other.
