As such, eachstudent will conduct an applied research project that draws upon sociological conceptsand issues. The product of this research will be an essential component of yourconcentration portfolio. In order to provide you with the background necessary toconduct such a project, the course will focus on two main themes. First, we will examinea particular area of study in sociology: the transition to adulthood. Second, we willexamine a particular methodological approach to the study of this topic: qualitativemethods, including ethnographic field research and interviewing.
