Through organizations, we accomplish goals, interact with others, gain resources, and develop and assert our personal identities. Not only are organizations pervasive in modern society, they are diverse. They come in all types, shapes, and sizes. They can be small and local, like civic groups (e.g. the Ewing Kiwanis Club). They can be large and international, like multinational firms (e.g. Ikea, Microsoft). They can be voluntary, like a club, fraternity, or sorority. They can be involuntary, like a prison or mental institution. They can be for-profit businesses, or non-profit groups. They can be private, or public. They can be seen as doing good (e.g. a charity group), or doing evil (e.g. a terrorist cell). ER -
