The goal of the activity is to get the students thinking about what types of family violence are not discussed in a typical sociology textbook. We then talk about the significance of gender in a typical family violence event. The groups in my class are established at the beginning of the semester; they include five students per group, and meet almost weekly. This activity works best when trust has been built among the group members, therefore I would not recommend doing this activity at the beginning of the semester. ER -
