More specifically we will examine how social organizations and structures such as the distribution of power and the construction of meaning shape and are shaped by what we call "nature" or the "environment." We will also seek to understand how environmental problems have roots in social processes such as culture, community and social inequality, and the bearing these social forces have on ways individuals and groups understand and seek to solve environmental problems.
