The latter includes, but is not limited to, mortality, family formation and fertility, migration, immigration, population composition, population distribution, and population growth. Frequently, we will cover these topics from a "social inequality" perspective. For example, we will consider racial/ethnic differences in mortality and family formation, the effects of non-marital childbearing on the well-being of families, and the importance of residential segregation in creating the urban underclass.
