Through these various media, we explore the historical context – social, political, economic, and intellectual – that gave rise to sociology, the scientific study of society. We consider the three sociologies that developed, based on three philosophies of science and social science:Positivism/organic Theory, Interactionsim/individualist theory , and Historical materialism/organizational theory.
