With this focus on "others" in the classical period for sociology - women andpersons representing different races, ethnicities, religions - together we will includeminorities in our study of the times, using their voices to amplify traditions in thoughtarticulated by the grand masters. Looking at it another way, we are attempting toprivilege those voices suppressed by currents of values and tastes within the classicalperiod for sociology, showing how they reflected or contributed to its emergence as adiscipline.
