Together we will explore contemporary and historical lesbian cultures and communities in the United States, examining their roots, politics, populations, and conflicts from a sociological standpoint. The purpose of this course is to begin to eliminate the invisibility and marginality lesbians have typically been subjected to by focusing on cultures and communities that were created by women who partner with other women. Hopefully you will be surprised by the diversity of lesbian cultures and communities as you probe around the edges of lesbian culture to locate women who have rarely received scrutiny before. I am hoping that you will be delighted to discover them!}, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Anahita, Sine}, year={2010}, month={Apr.} }
