@article{Taines_2011, place={Washington DC: American Sociological Association.}, title={Sociology of Urban Education Research Paper}, url={https://trails.asanet.org/article/view/sociology-of-urban-education-research-paper}, abstractNote={In this course, we will be doing sociology in addition to reading about and discussing it. This means we will be studying a reform in our local context, and using sociological literature and theory to interpret the results. You should select a reform being implemented in local urban schools/districts that you are excited about, dubious about, or are otherwise interested in finding out more. After you make your selection, you will collect data—either qualitative or quantitative—about the reform, seeking to understand its complications, successes, and limitations from sources "on the ground." (I will work with students on accessing local data or finding alternatives if necessary). The final product will look like a standard research paper, with a general introduction, a literature review or theory section, methods, results/data analysis, and conclusion. I have split the assignment up into 4 stages to facilitate your planning, allow you to receive feedback along the way, and encourage you to build upon your prior work.}, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Taines, Cynthia}, year={2011}, month={Aug.} }
