Through this assignment, students develop and demonstrate their critical thinking skills, as well as gain a more concrete understanding of sociological concepts that can be difficult to grasp, such as gender normativity and intersectionality. Rather than only addressing gender representations and constructions in advertisements, this assignment requires students to move beyond a single axis analysis and examine gender and race as they occur simultaneously in these ads.}, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Corrado, Carolyn}, year={2010}, month={Apr.} }
