First, we discuss the construction of identity and the historical social movements that made Latinos visible in this country. Then, we specifically address Latinas’ roles and conditions in different aspects and structures of society. Finally, we look beyond our borders to examine women in the context of globalization. Students are encouraged to make connections between their own experiences and those of the Latina women we study. They are also encouraged to create new knowledge through class discussions and participation, critical thinking, and analysis. }, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Troche-Rodríguez, Madeline}, year={2010}, month={Apr.} }
