The core of this course centers on the fundamental demographic processes --fertility (birth rates), mortality (death rates), and migration (population movements). We will address the causes and consequences of these processes in relation to social, political, and economic factors in which they lie. It is my hope that this course helps students to develop their own demographic perspective—understanding the interrelations between population processes and social, political, economic trends. }, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Carter, Terrolyn}, year={2010}, month={Apr.} }
