The teacher-as-learner idea, however, has rarely been documented in concrete applications to sociology classes. In this essay, I reflect on my attempt to practice teacher-as-learner during a unique three-week sociology of gender class taught in Cusco, Peru, in May 2002. Following Paulo Friere (1998), I recommend that acquiring new knowledge and modeling risk-taking can help structure the practice of teacher-as-learner in travel-study abroad.}, journal={TRAILS: Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology}, author={Fobes, Catherine}, year={2010}, month={Apr.} }
