AbstractThe purpose of this in-class activity is to help students apply knowledge about what variables, types of measurements, can be used with independent samples t-test, dependent samples t-test, chi-squared tests, one-way ANOVA tests, repeated measures ANOVA tests, Pearson’s correlation tests, and linear regression.

Usage NotesThis activity lasts between 15-20 minutes. This resource should be used after students have learned independent samples t-test, dependent samples t-test, chi-squared tests, one-way ANOVA tests, repeated measures ANOVA tests, linear regression, and Pearson’s correlation tests. You can add/change the "Matching Activity" sheet as you need to address...
Learning Goals and Assessments
- Students will be able to state which types of dependent variables and independent variables are appropriate for each inferential statistical test.
- Students will become more confident in their abilities to use the right types of variables with inferential statistical tests.
- If the student successfully matches each test to the correct variable, this must be checked as a group or by the instructor
- Before playing the memory/matching game, students are asked to rate their confidence in choosing statistical procedures. After playing the memory/matching game students are asked the same question again. Before and after averages should be compared.
