Abstract

In this course we examine the assimilation of American Jewry into American culture and how it
is differentiated from this culture. We begin with a sociological history of the American Jewish
population, followed by recent survey research. We then examine differences between the
enclave culture of the ultra-Orthodox and modern Orthodoxy.
