Learning Goals and Assessments

Learning Goal(s):

  1. Students will increase their theoretical understanding of the concept of intersectionality and be able to use the concept of intersectionality to draw critical connections between lived experiences and sociological scholarship.
  2. Students will increase their methodological understanding of the concept of intersectionality and will be able to both consume and produce empirical research that relies on measuring the concept of intersectionality

Goal Assessment(s):

  1. Students will be required to lead class discussion, ask their classmates questions, and draw parallels between course material, current events, and theirs and other students' lives.
  2. Students will take two essay exams and write an original research proposal and will be graded on their ability to understand and utilize quantitative and qualitative methods of analyzing intersectionality.
