The following resource is an internship assessment created for the review of sociology field sites and students on completion of a one semester internship. In searching the literature, little was available on internships for sociology majors and we developed this tool to help our program improve placements as well as evaluate performance.

Goal 1:
Apply critical thinking skills within the context of professional sociology practice skills.-Understand the ethical standards and principles and practice. -Understand the social processes whereby a social condition becomes defined as a social problem.
Assessment 1:
The tool is a partial assessment of the goals for internship
Goal 2:
Examine how macro-level social conditions relate to micro-level behaviors. -Develop critical thinking and visual literacy relating to understanding social problems.-Apply critical thinking skills within the context of sociology practice
Assessment 2:
Other assessment includes 2 site visits, weekly reports, final presentation, and a possible single system paper or research study.
Goal 3:
Practice without discrimination and with respect, knowledge, and skills related to clients’ age, class, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, family structure, gender, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
Assessment 3:
Assessment of practice is done through student weekly reports, final presentation, and the evaluation tool completed by the student and internship supervisor
